Rose Looking For More Than Letters From ND

Marcel Rose is receiving mail from Notre Dame, but the wide receiver/cornerback isn't currently talking with any Irish coaches. He hopes that will change after Notre Dame's camp early next week. Rose will make the trip up from Orlando, Fla., on Friday, and stay with his cousin and Irish captain Maurice Crum Jr., all the way through Tuesday's camp. Things get underway on Sunday.

Marcel Rose is waiting on his first offer. He is talking regularly with Kansas and Clemson, and receiving mail from programs like Notre Dame, Florida, Kentucky, Northwestern, South Carolina and Tennessee. This will be Rose's first camp of the summer, and he may check out South Carolina's as well. The 5-foot-10, 180-pound Rose hasn't firmed up any other trips.

"I was talking to my cousin and he was telling me it was a pretty good camp to attend," Rose said. Last season at Cypress Creek High, he had 690 yards rushing and another 475 yards receiving and eight touchdowns. As a cornerback, Rose had 40 tackles, three interceptions and five pass breakups. "Hopefully some of the coaches are going to be out there and see my talent.

"(Maurice) is just telling me to keep working hard and keep learning and get faster."

Rose already has good speed, claiming 4.4 speed in the 40-yard dash. As of late May, he has been working with a speed coach and said he has noticed a difference.

Kansas and Clemson are telling Rose they want to see him in camp.

Rose consistently names Notre Dame among his favorites, and he visited unofficialy for the Irish-Army game last season. Top Stories
