McCarthy Is Just About Ready

Four-star safety Dan McCarthy is just about ready to make his college decision. The 6-foot-2, 195-pound standout from Cardinal Mooney High in Youngstown, Ohio has it down to four schools.

In two separate text messages with's Irish Eyes, Dan McCarthy said that he will make a decision early next week, and has it down to four schools in no particular order. They are Notre Dame, Ohio State, Stanford and Michigan.

As a junior, McCarthy help lead his team to a 14-0 season and a state championship. He threw for 1,910 yards and 21 touchdowns. He ran for 780 yards and eight touchdowns. McCarthy, who has 4.45 speed, averaged eight tackles per game and intercepted two passes.

His older brother Kyle will be a junior on the Notre Dame football team this fall.

McCarthy would be a great addition to the recent defensive back commitments Notre Dame received from Robert Blanton and Jamoris Slaughter. Top Stories
