Trevor Laws is 6-3 and 285 pounds. He runs the 40 in 4.9 seconds and has been a disruptive force for his team this year. They have struggled so far with a 2-4 record but that hasn't stopped Laws. Trevor has accounted for 75 total tackles, 10 sacks and 10 tackles for loss in 6 games.
"I am mainly playing defensive end but they run away from me most of the game so my coach usually sticks me in at nose by the end of the game. My team is 2-4, we are young but we are getting better."
Trevor visited Notre Dame this past weekend and committed to Coach Willingham on Sunday. "I have been liking Notre Dame for a while. I just wanted to make sure it was the right place for me. When I went to Michigan, I was so impressed by that place that I thought that is where I wanted to go. When I went to Notre Dame's camp and I met Coach Willingham, I knew I wanted to go there but I thought I better step away from it for a while. I went to Michigan and loved it and then I went to Notre Dame and really loved it so I thought I should just step back a bit from it and make sure that was the right place for me."
Trevor had been thinking heading into this visit that he might commit to Notre Dame. "I was kind of thinking that when I came in this weekend. I thought I might commit before going. The game was awesome. Nobody has the atmosphere that Notre Dame has. The game experience is awesome. My whole family came with me and they all agreed that this was the best place for me. I got to speak to Coach Willingham on Sunday and that was it."
I asked Trevor what set Notre Dame apart from all the other schools that offered him. "I think Notre Dame is the best University in the country. The education you receive is outstanding. I think it's a place where you can really develop yourself as a person. Coach Willingham also made it an easy decision. He is the type of guy who can change your life. I would seriously vote for him for President. Every conversation I have ever had with him has given me some life lesson that I need to learn. He talks so much about your future, the decisions you make and how to develop yourself as a person. I can't see how anyone who visits with Coach Willingham will turn down Notre Dame. If you are serious about your future, there is no way you wouldn't choose Notre Dame. I just want to play for him. I think he will make me a better person."
Once again, the staff hit the jackpot landing their top prospect at this position and a quality young man. Trevor said he was happy to have this over. His family was very excited about his decision and he told me that his Mom reads Fighting Irish Insider every day. Congrats to Trevor and his family. Notre Dame landed another great young man in this class.
