I spoke with Mike for quite some about Chase and his plans. "It's been pretty humbling for all of us. We had a chance to talk to Coach Willingham the other day and he was such a neat guy. It won't take him long to get that program back to where it belongs. He is very impressive to say the least."
Mike said that Chase has set up his visit for Notre Dame on December 6th. I asked Mike if Chase has set up any other visits at this point. "Chase is so focused on getting his team back to the state tournament. His team is 5-0 and they have a very big game this week. I think we will sit down with his coach very soon and discuss this. I am pretty sure that Chase will visit Virginia and Virginia Tech. I also think he will visit Penn State. The last one is kind of up in the air. Ohio State has been pushing very hard for that visit."
Mike also spoke about the possibility of him leaving Virginia to another school in another state. "I don't think he is set on any school. One of his good friends has already committed to Virginia Tech. I don't think that will have any impact on his decision. Chase will make his decision based on what is best for him."
Chase is a legit 6-2 right now and about 190 pounds. I asked Mike what college coaches have been telling him about where Chase will play. "He is a legit 6-2 right now. Some schools are recruiting him as a d-back. Some are saying he can play either way and recruiting him at wide receiver as well. I think Notre Dame is recruiting him as a corner. He might end up as a safety. The one thing that coaches keep telling me is that he is that Chase will hit you. He is a very physical player. They usually only need to see his game film. Some SEC schools have been calling. Tennessee has shown a lot of interest lately."
Mike also said Chase and the family are excited for their visit to Notre Dame. "I think we are all excited to see Notre Dame. I am excited to meet Coach Willingham and the rest of the guys. We have been keeping up with all the commitments that Notre Dame has. That Freddie Parish looks like a great player. I think Chase will like it there."
Comments. Mike told me that Chase will most likely take all 5 visits. I have long thought that the two Virginia schools will be the competition here but I think Chase is pretty open. I am not sure if Chase will have the luxury of taking all 5 visits if he wants to go to Notre Dame. I think Notre Dame will be done at defensive back long before Chase takes his final 5th visit. They are very impressed with Willingham. I think Notre Dame has a legit shot to land him but that will all depend on if he still wants to take all 5 visits.
