Notre Dame only has four spots remaining for this year's recruiting class and there are several top players that the Irish would still like to add. Notre Dame has tabbed Gerell Robinson as one of their top targets and he'll be out to see what the Notre Dame program has to offer in a couple weeks.
"I talk to coach Oliver and coach Ianello more than anyone else," Robinson responded when asked about his contact with the Notre Dame coaching staff. "I'm coming up for the Duke game. As far as I know, that's the only game we've been talking about. I haven't received my itinerary yet, but I should be set for that game. I'm not sure if coach Belles is going to come with me. I know he'd love to go if he can. My mom might come to Indiana with me. If she doesn't come with me, I definitely want coach Belles to come out with me. That's up in the air right now, but we should find something out soon. The only other visit I have locked down is Oregon and that is this weekend. My dad is going up to Oregon with me.
"I'm not going to be looking for anything specific on my trips. I'm just going to take it all in and see if I'd fit into the system, the program and the school. It's really about my comfort level. All programs have a lot to offer. Exposure-wise Notre Dame is on TV every week, so that's a plus, but it's really about my comfort level. "
Notre Dame is recruiting Gerell as a wide receiver. The Irish already had John Goodman in this recruiting class and then Mike Floyd decided to commit to Notre Dame a couple weeks ago. Notre Dame is still pursuing Christchurch, Va. prospect, Deion Walker, who will be in town for the Navy game this weekend for an official visit. Despite the amount of talent Notre Dame could have at wide receiver, Robinson isn't the least bit concerned about the competition.
"I heard about Mike Floyd committing," Robinson said. "I know they have Deion Walker coming out for a visit. I have no problem competing with the best of them. I know what I can do, and I know where I stand. If they can play on the field, I'm ready to battle.
"I don't want to drag out the process, but I want to take some of the visits that I need to take in order to make sure I make the right decision about which school that I'm going to."
Although Gerell doesn't want to prolong his decision, he won't be able to take any additional trips until his team is done with their march to the state title.
"Coach Oliver came out to watch me our game last Friday," Robinson explained. "We won 44-8. I had two passing touchdowns and one rushing touchdown. I went 7-11 with 130 yards passing and I had 57 rushing yards on four carries. I only played in the first half though.
"We have one regular season game left and then we start play-offs. We play Taylor (7-2), our cross-town rival. This is the biggest regular season game of the year. Our offense has been really productive. The last couple games I've been back at quarterback, because our other quarterback was out, but he'll be back this weekend."
