"I've got it down to five now," said Northwest high school prospect Chris Harper. "Notre Dame, Illinois, K-State, Missouri and Oregon."
The quarterback/wide receiver prospect has already visited a number of his top schools.
"I've took four visits already," he said. "I've been to Illinois, Notre Dame, Missouri and K-State already. I go to Oregon on the 30th. I've liked a lot of things at each place. Each school has something I like."
Harper has already schedule a date to announce his final decision.
"I'm deciding December 17th," he said. "I'm kind of doing that here with Arthur (Brown) here in Wichita. We're doing it the same day."
While the senior prospect has been on a number of visits already, he says he's not sure he's any closer to making his decision.
"Like I said before, I'm just trying to try to look at everything and see where I fit in best. There's some schools probably moving up a bit, and some schools have kind of dropped off a bit," he said. "I really don't know. I need to sit down and look over the situation. At this time I'm kind of taking in all the visits right now."
Harper visited Notre Dame back in September. I asked him if the Irish might be one of the schools slipping a bit.
"I wouldn't say that, but I really don't know," he said. "I really don't have an order. It's kind of hard to say. After you take a visit, you're pretty high on that visit, and you start liking that school a lot. You really don't know."
What will be the deciding factors in Harper's decision?
"It's just going to come down to where I feel most comfortable," he said. "Which players I like, what coaches I like. I know a lot about the schools academically. It's just really where I'm comfortable at."
The Irish are recruiting Harper as an athlete, and that probably doesn't help their chances of landing him.
"The only school that's not recruiting me as a quarterback is Notre Dame," he said.
"Yep," Harper said when asked if he wanted to play quarterback in college.
