A new name to add to the mix

A new name has to be added to the list. Hollywood, Fla's John Beason is a hot prospect. He has offers from all the top programs in the south and he plans to visit Notre Dame.

John Beason is being recruited by most schools as a strong safety prospect. Miami wants to take a look at him as an outside linebacker. Beason has had a good season so far with 2 interceptions. He is also averaging 12 yards per carry as a running back. He has rushed 34 times for 407 yards and 9 touchdowns.

Beason has set a few visits so far. "So far, I have set a visit to Georgia on January 10th and Tennessee on January 17th. I am trying to set a visit to Notre Dame but I need to talk to them and finalize that. I was thinking about going there in a couple of weeks but I need to speak to their coaches first."

I asked John why he has an interest in Notre Dame. "I have been talking to their coaches and I like them and what they have to say. They are a program on the rise. My coaches have a big influence on my and they have a lot of great things to say about Notre Dame and Coach Willingham. You can't go wrong with a degree from Notre Dame. I just want to go up there and see what the school is like and meet the coaches."

John said he hasn't finalized his other two visits yet. "It will probably be Miami and Florida State. I am just not sure yet. North Carolina State and Florida are also in it."

I mentioned to John that Notre Dame was the only school listed that isn't in the south. I asked him if the distance was going to be a problem for him. "Not really, I am trying to not let that affect me. I have a brother who lives in New York right now and he likes it up there. I don't think the distance will be a problem for me."

Comments. It's pretty hard to guess if Notre Dame has a legitimate shot here. I need to talk to John more before I get a feel for him. He will visit and that is a good sign. If they can get him up there, anything can happen. I take this as a very good sign of things to come in the future.
