Citko Gets One-On-One Time with Latina

Adam Citko had what he called an amazing time when he visited Notre Dame for the Air Force game this past season. However, because of the game, the 6-foot-5, 301-pound Warminster, Pa. product didn't get to spend much time talking to and getting to know the coaches, particularly offensive line coach John Latina.

Making a return visit this past weekend for Notre Dame's junior day, Adam Citko was hoping he'd get a chance to speak with Latina. He quickly got what he was looking for.

"We got there around 10:30 to the Gug," Citko said. "We checked in and we sat down with coach Latina for a half hour and talked about some things. We talked about just where I stand with them and about the whole recruiting process. He was giving my mother advice."

Citko, who is looking for his first scholarship offer, was happy to hear where he currently is on the Irish's list.

"He said I stood very well, and just that their process is a little slower than every other school because they recruit the whole nation and not one specific area," Citko explained. "He said he liked that I was really physical, and he thinks I could play guard in college too."

Most programs are recruiting the Archbishop Wood standout as a tackle. Citko said that Latina calls his head coach once per week, and that he regularly keeps in touch through email with Notre Dame recruiting coordinator Rob Ianello. Besides the Irish, interest is coming from Pittsburgh, Connecticut, Rutgers, Maryland, Miami, North Carolina State and Wisconsin.

"Coach Latina said he'll be out in May to talk to me, and I might have to go to camp and workout with him," Citko said.

While on campus, Citko sat in on an offensive team meeting, went to an offensive line meeting, ate a good lunch in the press box and observed practice.

"It was just the recruits in the offensive meeting and they were showing us the offense," Citko said. "It was beneficial if you get to the next level, because 25 percent of the teams (in the NFL) are running the Patriots offense and that's what they run.

"At practice, I got to talk to (fellow Irish recruit) Chris Watt about some things. After practice I got to talk to Sam Young and Eric Olsen and a couple other guys. They were just asking us about schools and told us a couple things about Notre Dame."

Citko has also been to Pittsburgh, Rutgers, and Connecticut. He is going back to Pittsburgh next week, and may also head back to Storrs sometime soon.

"Hopefully I have a couple offers before my senior season so I can make a decision," Citko said. Top Stories
