In town for Notre Dame's first junior day, the 6-foot-4, 190-pound Proviso West receiver got the good news from Weis in person.
"Just offered," Kyle Prater said in a text message.
Prater now has seven written offers. The class-of-2010 standout, and Scout.com U.S. Army National Combine first-team selection, has also been offered by Cincinnati, Illinois, Iowa, Northwestern, Purdue and Wisconsin.
This fall, Prater attended the Syracuse game. It was his first time in South Bend since he was a little kid in town to watch his older cousin Carlyle Holiday play for the Irish.
This past season, Prater had 60 receptions for 948 yards and nine touchdowns.
Stay tuned to Irish Eyes for more on Prater's scholarship offer following all the junior day festivities.
