The Ultimate Compliment

Darius White said everything from his Monday morning conversation with Notre Dame head coach Charlie Weis stuck out to him, but one thing made the top-100 player smile more than anything.

"Especially when he started talking about the Super Bowl yesterday," the four-star receiver from Fort Worth, Texas, began. "He was telling me how I have height and speed, and can come out of my routes, and he was telling me how No. 11 for the Cardinals came out of his route and burnt everyone on the slant, and how that reminded him of me."

The 6-foot-4, 195-pound White was ecstatic to be compared to arguably the best receiver in the NFL, Larry Fitzgerald.

White himself, is arguably the best receiver in the state of Texas in the class-of-2010. This past season, the Dunbar High standout caught 40 passes for a ridiculous 1,057 yards and 18 touchdowns.

White currently holds scholarship offers from Texas A&M, Texas Tech, Oklahoma, Baylor, TCU, SMU, Oklahoma State, Utah, and the latest one coming from Weis and Notre Dame.

"It was good," White said. He will likely add an offer from Texas at their junior day on Feb. 8th. "I talked to all the coaches and they said they like the way I play and my attitude, and they offered me a scholarship.

"I like Notre Dame. They run a pro-set offense. They have a good engineering program too. I know Notre Dame is a good school."

Colleges also like White for his skills on the basketball court. He'd like to try and play both sports on the next level, and Utah already said he could. White said he is hearing from virtually every major program in the country, but has yet to receive an offer.

White claims no favorites, and said he has no timetable on making a decision.

"It doesn't matter to me if I go far, or stay at home for school," White said.

He also has no idea when or if ever, on when he'd visit Notre Dame.

"I don't know if I can visit. Probably next year I might visit." Top Stories
