Davis Talks About His ND Scholarship Offer

Though he feels honored everytime, racking up scholarship offers is starting to feel monotonous to four-star receiver and Scout.com top-100 player Mike Davis.

However, last week, the one Mike Davis received from Charlie Weis, felt a little bit different.

"Yeah, it really does, because Notre Dame doesn't really recruit the Dallas the area," the 6-foot-1, 185-pound Skyline High standout said. "It's a very special offer because it's a school I like, and maybe will attend one day. It was really unexpected. If they come down to the Dallas area, they really want a player, so I feel like they really want me."

Places like Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, California, Stanford, Nebraska, Texas A&M, Wisconsin, Kansas and Iowa also really want Davis. Plenty more programs will be lining up soon, including maybe Texas, who will likely offer at their junior day on Sunday.

Arguably the top receiver in the state of Texas, along with Darius White, who also picked up an Irish full-ride last week, Davis spent some time on the phone with Weis talking about his offer.

"He was just straight up, saying he wants me up there, and really wants me bad, and telling me to take a visit, and that they have a good academic program and all that," Davis explained. "He said they're coming to get me."

Davis went on to say that Notre Dame is one of his "dream schools."

"I've been watching them since I've been growing up," Davis said. "I have top schools, but really there are no top schools, Notre Dame is in my top. They got a great rich program, good tradition, good academics and I look at everything.

"I could see myself going up there. I was just elated when they offered. It was a great day. I was really happy about it."

This past season, Davis had a lot of great Fridays, catching 58 passes for 1,138 yards and 16 touchdowns.

"They say I have good technique, speed, break-away ability, hands, and I can separate in one-on-one coverage, and I can block a little bit too. I'm a good student-athlete."

Davis plans on taking his time during the recruiting process, and making his college decision at either the U.S. Army All-America Bowl, or the UnderArmour All-American Game. He sees himself taking his visits, and wants to major in kinesiology.

"I'm looking for good academics, the life up there, and just a program and the school I feel comfortable at," Davis said.

"I will probably take a visit up to Notre Dame my senior year."
