Irish Eyes Video: Tyler Eifert

When Notre Dame began recruiting Tyler Eifert, Irish head coach Charlie Weis told the Fort Wayne (Ind.) Bishop Dwenger standout, that they were looking at him as an athlete.

In high school, an athlete is what Tyler Eifert was.

This past fall, the 6-foot-5, 225-pound Eifert played tight end, receiver, linebacker, safety and even punted, helping lead his team to the state championship game. He ended the campaign with 40 receptions for 675 yards (16.9 avg.) and nine touchdowns. Hardly ever coming off the field, he added 97 tackles and five interceptions.

On his official visit to Notre Dame for the football team banquet in December, Eifert found out he'd be playing tight end for the Irish.

Eifert was named to the Indiana First-Team All-State squad to cap his prep career. Here is a look at his senior highlights. Top Stories
