Notre Dame was one of the first programs to send Kyle Prater (6-foot-5, 205 pounds) a scholarship offer, but since that time the big boys have come calling. Auburn, USC, Oklahoma, Illinois, Penn State, Wisconsin are just a handful of programs that the Irish will be competing with for Prater's signature.
"I don't have a top five or top ten yet, I'll probably get that down toward the end of the month," Prater replied when asked about the status of his recruitment. "I don't have a set one or two schools right now. Notre Dame has as good of a chance as anyone else, they'll definitely be in my top ten."
Kyle recently made an unofficial visit to Norman, Okla. and came away impressed with the Sooner program. He's made several visits to Notre Dame, and has planned a return trip this summer with his teammates.
"It depends on how my schedule looks with my team," Prater replied when asked about taking additional unofficial visits this summer. "We plan on going to the 7-on-7 at Notre Dame this summer. We'll be going to some other places around the Big Ten also."
"I'll be at the (Scout.com) combine in Evanston on Saturday, but I'm not going to compete. I'm just going to go up there and check things out."
Longtime Notre Dame rival USC recently extended a scholarship offer to Prater. Los Angeles will be a difficult trip to make this summer, but expect the Trojans to be in the mix throughout Kyle's recruitment.
"I still looking and weighing my options right now," Prater said of when asked about his USC scholarship offer. "I do like them a lot. I know for sure USC is will be one of my officials. I really want to check them out. They're a powerhouse football team and their players go to the NFL."
