Blake Lueders (6-foot-5, 245-pounds) recently narrowed down his list of potential schools to five recently. IrishEyes caught but with his father this week to get an update on the recent news.
"Blake just returned from Northwestern last weekend," Dan Lueders responded when asked about his son's recruitment. "He had a nice visit and he really enjoyed all that. The spring practices for colleges are over now, and we made a big push to see all of those. There's still a couple other schools he may or may not visit. He's mulling that over right now, but he's pretty much narrowed it down to a list of Notre Dame, Northwestern, Stanford, Wake Forest, Boston College, in no particular order."
Generally when a recruit is able to generate a list of his top five schools at this time of year, a decision could be made in the near future.
"His intention is to get something done before his senior," Mr. Lueders explained. "That could change. I don't think it will. We've looked at the situation and we don't see a reason to drag the process out. Something that I've been proud of him, is he hasn't gotten caught up in this.
"He's visited a number of schools and it's kind of opened his eyes. There are a lot of great schools out there. Ironically, I think the recruiting process has made him more opened minded and more focused in some respects. Until you go visit a school and meet the coaches and players you wouldn't necessarily consider them, but once you do, you say ‘Hey this is a pretty good place too.'"
Blake has visited Notre Dame on several occasions. This year he attended a junior day, and a spring practice.
