Lueders' Plans Are Coming Together

Blake Lueders hasn't set a date to announce his college decision, but it won't be long. The defensive end prospect from Zionsville High School (Ind.) has his list of colleges down to five.

Blake Lueders doesn't know which school he wants to attend at this time, but the 6-foot-5, 245-pound standout would like to have something decided in the near future.

"I've narrowed it down to five schools which are Boston College, Notre Dame, Northwestern, Stanford and Wake Forest," Lueders explained when asked about his recruitment. "I've been fortunate enough to have been to all of those schools and I have a pretty good feel for all the schools. Now I'm just trying to sit back and think about it all and soak it in. Then hopefully I'll be able to make a decision some time over the summer; hopefully around June or July. I'd like to get it out of the way and if I can, it would be one less distraction.

Lueders could play several positions at the next level and Charlie Weis even mentioned that Blake could get a look on offensive side of the ball. Nonetheless it's likely that he will get his start on the defensive line.

"(Notre Dame) is looking at me as a defensive end, which is fine with me," Lueders said. "When coach Weis gave me the offer, he said that he could take me at a bunch of positions. He said probably defensive end, but he also said linebacker, interior lineman or fullback in goal line situations. I really don't care. I prefer defense. I love linebacker, but I understand that I'm probably more fit to play defensive end in college. I have the frame and the body for defensive end. I do love defensive end, but now that I'm playing linebacker, I absolutely love that too."

Blake loves to bring a physical presence to the field. It was early in his football career that he knew he might have the ability to earn the scholarships that he has today.

"I start varsity my freshman year," Lueders explained. "I had a big edge on kids in my class, so I knew if I could keep that going I'd had a good chance to play college football. Everyone was telling me that I had the body and all the tools to play college football. I've always wanted to play college football, and it's always been my dream. I knew I could, but I didn't know that I'd have this many choices. Top Stories
