Smith Heads Into The Summer A Busy Man.

Notre Dame needs a big body in this recruiting class and they have an offer out to Garrison Smith of Douglass High School (Atlanta, Ga.) Smith is the No.2 ranked defensive tackle in the country, so the competition for his signature will be heavy.

The Irish already have the No.1 ranked defensive end committed to their class, so it wouldn't hurt to add the No. 2 ranked defensive tackle Garrison Smith (6-foot-3.5, 255-pounds) as well.

"I keep contact with Notre Dame through email and we talk now and then," Smith responded when asked about his interest in the Irish. "Coach Tenuta and I probably talked a couple weeks ago.

"I'd like to go up there for a visit. I don't know if I can make it this summer, but it might be a possibility to go there in the fall."

Don't expect Smith to make a decision in the near future. He's going to take his time and look at everybody.

"I'm just going to take it day by day," Smith said. "I'm still evaluating all schools right now. I like all schools that like me. I'm just trying to see what all the schools have to offer.

"I'm pretty much talking to all the schools that I can for the time that I have. I have a job, so I don't have a lot of time. If I don't talk to a school, that's because I'm working, or working out with my team, or doing something. I like all schools, so there isn't one school that's over another school right now."
