Beau Allen (6-foot-3, 292-pounds) made a trip to Notre Dame earlier this year, when the Irish held a junior day, and now he'll head back to South Bend to participate in their football camp.
"I'm going to go to Notre Dame's camp at the end of the month," Allen responded when asked about his pending visit. "Me and my mom are going to go down. We'll be taking a flight to Chicago and then driving over. I'll do the camp on the 30th and then head back immediately after that.
"Coach Ianello has been my contact for the most part. They said that they liked my tape and that they just wanted to see me in person and solidify my skills and see how I perform and how I move laterally.
"I'm pretty interested in Notre Dame," Allen said. "I think they'd be on of my top-five if they offered me.
Allen has 10 scholarship offers; among the schools to extend an offer are Minnesota, Wisconsin, Iowa, Iowa State, Nebraska, Vanderbilt, UCLA, Northwestern, and Colorado.
"I'm trying to keep (my camp load) light this year," Allen explained. "I really don't think I have to go to too many camps this year, that's what I did last year. I was supposed to go to their camp last year, but I couldn't make it. I think Notre Dame is the only camp that I'm going to participate in except some local things and stuff with my high school team.
"I just visited Minnesota, and I think I'll focus more on taking some unofficial visits, instead of doing the whole camp scene again.
"I think I'll try to get a top-five by the start of my senior season," he said. "I'm narrowing it down right now. I think my timeline is that I'll pull the trigger in November or December. I'd like to do it after my senior season, so that I can take some of my official visits."
