Awofadeju very interested in Notre Dame

A new name that has surfaced recently is Roswell, GA's Emmanuel Awofadeju. Awofadeju is a defensive end/outside linebacker prospect that has caught the eye of the Irish staff. He will visit Notre Dame later this month and is very interested in Notre Dame.

Awofadeju has visits set for Stanford this weekend and Notre Dame on January 24th. He has already visited Maryland and Virignia is also in the mix although he has not set that visit yet.

Awofadeju had a few visitors today in Bob Simmons and Trent Miles. "Coach Simmons is the LB coach there. We were talking today and I think they want me to play an OLB position where I would rush the passer sometimes and also drop back in coverage. Most schools started recruiting me as a defensive end but Maryland is also talking to me about playing an outside linebacker position." Emmanuel also talked about what Miles and Simmons had to say to him. "They said that they need a guy like me who can rush the passer but also cover some tight ends. We talked about where I fit in for their defense and about Notre Dame and the community there."

I asked Emmanuel what was important to him when picking a school? "The area is kind of important to me. Academics are important to me and playing time is also important. I want to play early. The overall football program is also important to me but not as much as the other things."

Many speculate that this will be a Notre Dame/Stanford battle and I asked Awofadeju about that. "They are my top two schools. Both school are good academic schools and I think I can play early at both school."

Stanford had been rumored to be the leader at this point. "They did for a while but now I don't think so. The more I find out about both schools, the more I like both. I didn't think I wanted to go to Indiana because I thought it was cold all the time. I found out the climate is 4 seasons and it's not cold all the time. It's actually very hot in the summer. "

Comments. I think this will be a close battle between Stanford and Notre Dame. He will fit in well at either school but I have to like Notre Dame's chances here because the momentum seems to be shifting in their favor. Top Stories
