Gaston Has Big Effort At ND Camp

Notre Dame is looking for a defensive tackle and Bruce Gaston from St. Rita High School (Chicago, Ill.) made his way to the Irish football camp in order earn a scholarship offer.

Notre Dame has yet to land a defensive tackle for the 2010 recruiting class, but Bruce Gaston (6-foot-3, 290-pounds) is hoping he's done enough to receive an offer from the Notre Dame coaching staff.

"The camp was really nice, I really enjoyed it," Gaston said after returning to Chicago. "They taught me a few techniques, and they said that I did good things and they gave me positive feedback.

"Coach Ianello wants me to call him tomorrow evening and check my status, because I'm looking for that offer from Notre Dame. It's looking pretty good right now, but we'll see tomorrow.

"The camp went well though," Gaston explained. "I'm expecting something good, but all I can do is wait. The campus is nice, and if I were to get that offer, I'd have to visit the campus some more... it is a great school though.

If the Irish offer they will have to compete with the likes of Arizona, Wisconsin, Illinois, Indiana, Western Michigan, Central Michigan, Michigan State, Purdue, Iowa, and Minnesota.

"Hopefully I can narrow things down to a top-five in early August," Gaston said. "I want to take my official visits, and then I want to make my decision around my birthday, which is November 29. I want to give myself a little gift, because this is a very big decision."
