The flurry of unofficial visitors at Notre Dame is unique for this time of year, but the Notre Dame coaches have done well to bring in several key prospects. Offensive tackle Matt James (6-foot-7, 260-pounds) was on campus last week in order to become more familiar with the Irish program.
"I went up Thursday morning," James responded when asked about his unofficial visit. "I talked with coach Verducci. I like him a lot. He's very knowledgeable, his resume is outstanding with all the places that he's been.
"We looked over some film of offensive line drills, and then met some of the players like Kyle (Rudolph), Dayne Crist, and Braxston Cave. They went to work out, so I watched some of the players lift and saw a little of their conditioning program.
"It was summer, so the campus has a different feel than it normally does," James said "But I liked the players, they're really easy to get along with."
James has seen Notre Dame a couple of times already, but it likely won't be his last.
"I went up there because I still had some questions about the school, I think I'll eventually take an official visit up there when I can," Matt explained. "They're in my top-three with Ohio State and Cincinnati.
"I don't have anything scheduled with the Ohio State, but I've been talking to the coaching staff about getting over there. I'm going on vacation in two weeks, so I'll go see Florida in two weeks.
"I would like to make a decision by the start of my season, but I don't think it's very likely," he added.
