Unexpected Offer

Notre Dame has taken note of where they stand with various prospects around the country and new scholarship offers are being sent. The latest offer to be handed out went to running back Cameron Roberson from Newbury Park High School (Calif.)

Cameron Roberson (6-foot-1, 215-pounds) hadn't heard from the Notre Dame coaching staff for quite a while. As the days moved came off the calendar, he wasn't sure where he stood with Notre Dame, that changed yesterday.

"I got an offer from Notre Dame," Roberson responded when asked about his recruitment. "I hadn't talked to them for about a month, and then my coach told me that coach Ianello wanted to talk to me. Then I spoke with coach Weis. We talked about how I would fit into their offense and how I would be a good fit for Notre Dame.

"I was excited. Me and my mom were both really excited, because we had wanted them to offer for quite awhile now. It's a big offer, but we're still going to take our time and find the best fit."

Despite not having an offer earlier in the year, Roberson did take the time to visit Notre Dame this spring.

"I knew Notre Dame was a prestigious school and there have been a lot of great people that have gone to school there, but I didn't know too much about it until I went up there for the spring game," Roberson explained. "I loved the campus and it's a place that I could see myself going to for four years. I really didn't get to see too much of the campus though, because I was only there for a half of a day really, but what I saw I really liked."

The Notre Dame coaching staff hopes that visit is enough, because Cameron hopes to get his decision done within a couple months.

"I want to decide before my season, around the end of the summer probably," he said. "It's split evenly between Notre Dame, Arizona, Northwestern, and Washington."
