Cornerback Still Likes The Irish

Cornerback Tony Hurd of Marshall High School (Missouri City, Texas) isn't going to be able to make a trip to Notre Dame this summer, but he's fairly certain that he'll eventually make it to Notre Dame.

Tony Hurd (5-foot-9, 185-pounds) was hoping to make an unofficial visit to Notre Dame this summer, but that doesn't look like it will transpire.

"I don't think that I'll be able to make it down there this summer," Hurd responded when asked about a potential visit to Notre Dame. "I haven't talked to them in a couple weeks, but I'm pretty sure that I'll be taking one of my five official visits there.

"I'll end up narrowing things down later in the summer. I'm not sure about my five official visits, but I think Notre Dame is going to be one, because more than likely I won't be able to go there over the summer, so I'll probably end up going there later."

Hurd has scholarship offers from Notre Dame, Kansas, Kansas State, Oklahoma State, Nebraska, Colorado Texas A&M, Oregon, and Oregon State, but he hasn't been paying much attention as of late.

"I really haven't been reading my mail lately, but I'd guess that I have 15 or 20-plus offers," Hurd said. "I've been trying to lay low recently, and trying to keep my name out of the media. I like to play football, because I love the game. I've just mainly been working out and taking it easy. Our team is getting ready for the season.

"I honestly don't know when I'll decide. At one point I was going to do it after our games, but at this point I don't know." Top Stories
