The first guy Perry spoke with was Mitchell Thomas. Thomas becomes a need with the announcement of Wesley Jefferson's commitment to Maryland.
I Caught him at a bad time. He just had just hung up with a coach from Alabama when I called, and was about to head out the door. He was nice enough to talk to me for a little while though.
"Notre Dame and Auburn are my favorites right now. Coach Simmons and Coach Miles were here last night. I like Georgia, and I'm still interested in Alabama a little bit, but Notre Dame and Auburn are my favorites."
Mitchell is visiting Alabama this weekend, and Georgia the following weekend (24th). "I'm going to take the rest of my visits before I decide."
Perry also spoke with LaBrose Hedgemon.
Just got off the phone with Labrose. "Notre Dame, North Carolina, and Auburn are the schools I'm looking at." I visit Auburn this weekend. I've already visited Notre Dame and North Carolina." Even though he didn't list any team as a favorite, he did say when he was planning on deciding. "I'm going to decide sometime next week after I take my Auburn visit."
Seems to be a Notre Dame-Auburn battle. Spoke very highly of Coach Miles. However he did say UNC is recruiting him the hardest right now. "North Carolina is recruiting me the hardest, but that doesn't really matter to me. Some coaches would rather not call you as much, and let you make your own decision. I can really respect that. It doesn't mean that they don't want you."
Hoefully he'll come back from Auburn uncommitted this weekend. He was a pleasure to talk to, and ND seems to really want him.
Another name that has surfaced lately is Kevin Brown. Brown is a defensive tackle prospect from Long Beach Poly. It appears the Irish have not been in contact with him lately.
Notre Dame still hasn't contacted Kevin Brown. He sounded real disappointed too. Said he was really interested in Notre Dame, and would visit if he was invited. He's down to Florida State, UCLA, and San Diego State.
Thanks to Perry for the updates. I think you will all enjoy Perry's updates in the future.
