Corey Cooper (6-foot-2, 195-pounds) committed to Illinois just over a year ago. Odds are that the standout safety will still end up in Champaign, but that won't be known until February.
"I'm still open a little bit," Cooper responded when asked about his commitment. "I'm still verbally committed to Illinois, but I'm still looking at some schools. I've narrowed it down to about five schools. I'm going to take my official visits and then sign on signing day."
Illinois is certainly still at the top of Cooper's list of options, and the five chasing the Illini range all the way to the West Coast.
"Notre Dame, Arizona, Tennessee, Stanford and Missouri," Cooper said of the schools vying for his official visits. "I want to take my ND visit for the USC game.
"I still get emails from coach Ianello and coach Weis about everyday. I'm still talking to coach Ianello about every week or two. They're still recruiting me as a receiver, but they're going to give me an option to play on either side of the ball."
