Nickell Robey (5-foot-7, 165-pounds) intended to make a trip to Notre Dame this summer, but those plans didn't materialize.
"I was supposed to go up there for a camp, but that trip got cancelled," Robey responded when asked about plans to visit Notre Dame. "Hopefully I can take an official visit when I get done evaluating all of my schools.
"I like the tradition at Notre Dame and my cousin Carlton Thomas went up there and he told me about it. He said that he liked it, so I thought I'd be interested in seeing what was up there too.
The Irish continue to recruit Robey, and that interest has Nickell convinced that Notre Dame could offer him a scholarship in the future.
"Coach Alford is recruiting me," he said. "As far as where I stand with an offer, they're highly interested in me. I'm pretty sure I can get an offer from them.
"They're recruiting me as a corner and athlete type of guy…a little bit of receiver and kick and punt return."
If the Irish do extend an offer to Robey, the Irish would have a solid shot at one of his five official visits.
"Probably," Robey said when asked if the Irish would land a visit if he received an offer. "Tennessee, Georgia and USF are the schools that are showing the most interest so far. When I get done looking at all my schools and mark down all the schools that I like and then put down the schools that I do like then we'll see from there.
"I'll probably announce in late December or going into signing day."
