Irish Holding Strong

Notre Dame landed one linebacker from North Carolina and they'd like to get another on in the coming weeks. Prince Shembo of Ardrey Kell High School (Charlotte, N.C.) has the Irish among his favorites and a decision should come before his senior season.

Notre Dame hosted Prince Shembo (6-foot-2, 225-pounds) for an unofficial visit last month, and they're hoping the impression the school made is lasting.

"I've been doing a lot with my team, practice, practice and more practice" Shembo responded when asked about his schedule. "I talked to coach Brown last week, or two weeks ago, but I still talk to him," Shembo responded when asked about his communication with the Notre Dame coaching staff. "We also stay in touch through email, but I still talk to the coaches.

"I think I might take a visit next week to Virginia Tech next week. If we don't go then, I don't think we'll be going. I'm not positive yet."

Shembo has a handful of schools still vying for his services. Last month's visit to Notre Dame solidified their standing amongst his favorites.

"Notre Dame is up there, North Carolina, Virginia Tech and Tennessee," Shembo said. "If you go to five, six and seven, you've got N.C. State, Virginia and Vandy.

"I think I'll have my decision before my season starts. It'll be before school, but I don't know when yet.

Prince Shembo finished his junior season with 90 tackles, 10 sacks, two interceptions, two fumbles caused and one fumble recovered.
