Notre Dame has commitments from linebackers Kendall Moore and Prince Shembo, but they would like to add a third at some point. Christian Jones doesn't know a lot about Notre Dame, but that may change if he decides to schedule an official visit to South Bend.
"I'm still looking at Notre Dame," the 6-foot-4, 215-pound linebacker said. "They're in my top six or seven, so they're still good with me. I'm thinking about taking an official visit there. I'll probably decide (if I'll visit) in the next few weeks.
"I haven't really been talking to them lately, because they're busy with some things, so I haven't talked to them much."
With the top schools in the Southeast chasing Jones, it's easy to wonder why he's inserted in the Irish.
"It's Notre Dame, and everyone knows about them," Jones said. "They're a school that's rich in tradition and it's a really good school. I'm sure pretty any guy would be interested in a program like that."
Jones has not scheduled any of his official visits, but the Irish will have a stiff competition for one of the five spots.
"Florida, Florida State, Southern Cal, Tennessee, Oklahoma, Alabama are the other schools," Jones said. "They're all pretty close. Now it's just going out and taking my official visits and see what happens. "
Jones does not have a timeline for a decision, but expect him to make his college choice in late January.
