Linder Slowing Things Down

Brandon Linder is one of the top offensive linemen in the country, and he plays from one of the top team in America, St. Thomas Aquinas (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.) He and two of his teammates, Gio Bernard and Cody Riggs are scheduled to visit Notre Dame in October.

The Notre Dame coaches continue to reach out to their top recruiting targets with the start of the contact period. Brandon Linder received the star treatment as three Notre Dame coaches were on the line September 1.

"I talked to Miami and Notre Dame," Linder replied when asked about his recruitment. "I talked to coach Verducci, coach Parmalee, and coach Weis. We talked about school and how they could start calling recruits.

"Right now, I'm more excited about the season getting started. I'm trying to shut things down with recruiting."

Although Brandon plans to ease off on his recruiting activity, Miami, Ohio State, Florida and Notre Dame remain on his mind.

"I'll take an official to all four schools. I think we're going to the USC game (October 17). I'm going to go to the Ohio State-USC game, probably the Florida-Tennessee game. I don't know about Miami, but I'm going to go up there.

St. Thomas Aquinas dominated Upper Arlington (Ohio) 52-7 in the first game of the season. Like most of the Raider's starters, Linder watched the second half from the sideline.

"I played a full half," Brandon said. "I think I did great. I dominated and it felt good. I was playing center. We did a lot more running and at center there is a lot more mauling. I had foot surgery over the summer and I'm at about 80 percent right now."
