It isn't often that Notre Dame has a top player from Texas attend their summer football camp, but Kameel Jackson (6-foot-1.5, 196 pounds) did just that. The junior wide receiver had plans to be in South Bend, so he made certain he made time to work out for the Irish coaching staff.
"I've talked to Coach Alford and Coach Ianello quite a bit," Jackson responded when asked about his contact with Notre Dame. "They talked about how they liked me as a student athlete and that they wanted to see more of me, so I went to their camp this summer. I was there for a family reunion. I moved from South Bend in the seventh grade and moved to Arlington four or five years ago.
"I have a very high interest level in Notre Dame. I first got hooked on them when I watched the movie, Rudy, with my dad. My dad got me hooked on Rudy when I was real little, real young. It's my favorite movie now. Being a high school athlete, I have a chance someday to probably play at Notre Dame, so my interest level is really high.
"They've talked about offering me a scholarship, but haven't seen one yet," he said. "They've talked about evaluating me more and just to see some more of me this year. Hopefully that will happen. I'd like to come up for a game this fall, whichever one I can catch.
Jackson has received scholarship offers from Oklahoma, Nebraska and Tulsa. He also has several verbal offers.
