Nix Visits ND

Defensive tackle Louis Nix made his second visit to Notre Dame this weekend to watch the Irish take on the Michigan State Spartans. The defensive tackle from William M. Raines High School (Jacksonville, Fla.) enjoyed the weekend, but did the Irish do enough to make Nix reconsider his commitment to Miami?

Louis Nix (6-foot-3, 315-pounds) made a visit to Notre Dame for the summer football camp, and this weekend e was back in South Bend for his official visit.

"I had a great time," Nix said. "I had a great time. I was hanging out with Bennett Jackson. I met this guy from the Colts. I and I met Vince Vaughn. I had a chance to go in the locker room. It was nice…it's a place I would be comfortable. I had a great time.

"My host was Alex Bullard. We went out to eat. We had a fun time Friday. Went and hung with him for a while and then went back to the hotel.

"Notre Dame was great at first," he said. "Rocky in the middle. Towards the end, a struggle, but in the end the defense came out with a great play and they won the game. They never gave up.

Prior to leaving campus, Nix had a chance to sit down and talk about his trip with Notre Dame Head Coach Charlie Weis.

"He didn't want to sell the school to me," Nix said of his conversation with Weis. "He just wanted me to hang with the players. He just wanted to go out and play and hang with them and see how they are. One thing you want out of a school is to see if you can hang with the guys and interact with them. I had fun doing that. They want me and Notre Dame's a great school. They would love to have me.

"I'm still committed to Miami. Notre Dame is still up there, but I definitely can't make a decision right now. That's all I can tell you. I'll probably decided on national signing day. Who knows though, I don't even know. This recruiting thing is really hard right now."

Now that he has seen Notre Dame for a second time, Nix will get a chance to take an official visit to Miami.

"I haven't planned that out yet, but I'm planning on going," Nix said. "I'm planning on going to Miami-Oklahoma the game. I hope it goes as I plan, but I'm trying to go there."
