James Likes The Improvements

Notre Dame hosted several top football prospects last weekend and Matt James was one of them. The offensive tackle from St. Xavier High School (Cincinnati, Ohio) was impressed by the improvement the Irish have made along the offensive line.

Notre Dame is hoping to land Matt James (6-foot-7, 260-pounds) come signing day, but the offensive lineman isn't going to make a decision anytime soon. The good news is James just made an unofficial visit to South Bend.

"Yeah, I just drove up there Saturday morning and then drove back with my family," James replied when asked about his trip to Notre Dame. "This was the first time I was up there this year, but I was there last year for the Pitt game. We kind of planned it preseason. We looked at my schedule and we had a couple weeks highlighted that we could easily make it to college football games, so it worked out.

"I'm going to take a step back and I think I'm just going to focus on my football season and our team. I'm going to be at UC this weekend, but after that I'm going to take a break for a while. I'm going to take a break from college recruiting and focus on my team until my season is over and I'm going to wait and take my official visits after the season."

Still under consideration for James are Notre Dame, Cincinnati, Ohio State, and Florida.

"Everything is even right now, but the visit did help (Notre Dame), "James remarked. "Just to see the development that coach Verducci has brought. I think the offensive line looks better with Coach Verducci coaching this year."
