Notre Dame is going to have a big recruiting weekend when USC comes to town and safety Dietrich Riley (6-foot-1, 195-pounds) is impressed with what he has seen from Notre Dame thus far.
"I'm going to Notre Dame this weekend," Riley said. "I just got off the phone with Corwin Brown. They're definitely making a huge run to get after me and one of my best friends, Josh Shaw. He's going out with me, so we're definitely showing interest back.
"I have a lot of interest in Notre Dame. I wouldn't be going out there to visit if I didn't. They're winning a lot of games, and they're coming off a great win over Washington. That was a really tough win that went into overtime. I felt that they should have won that Michigan game. They're showing you that coach Weis and their offense can put up big points. The defense is doing a great job and showing a lot of improvement, so I'm liking what I see."
Riley has taken notice of Notre Dame's 4-1 record, and it is important to him that they continue to show progress over the course of the season.
"That will definitely be part of my decision, because I want to go to a school where I feel I have a great chance to win a national championship," he explained. "The win (against USC) would be great, but more important will be competing. I'll also be paying close attention to what they have their corners and safeties doing and if they put them into situations to be successful.
"I don't have too many questions right now, I just want to get as much information that I can and then I'll be able to ask questions based on that. I want to go on the visit and just enjoy that atmosphere, have fun and embrace the opportunity that I'm being given."
Notre Dame will be Riley's second official visit. He as two more scheduled for later in the year.
"I already have made one official visit to Tennessee," Riley said. "I have one for Florida in November and I plan on doing USC in December after the season. I still have room for one more visit."
