Player Notes: ND vs. St. Francis

IrishEyes player-by-player review of the Irish performance vs. St. Francis.

Generally this space will be reserved for a full game film review of each player's individual contributions on a game-by-game basis.

But that master plan will take a backseat until Notre Dame's basketball games are deemed TV-worthy (in other words, get used to this with the exception of Chicago Classic games over Thanksgiving weekend, and then again until UCLA rolls into South Bend on December 19).

Until then, you get the next best on-the-spot, unedited game notes for each player – all without the benefit of instant replay.

Luke Harangody

  • Drains open right wing 3 thanks to Jackson's drive and kick

  • 3-pointer left alone on out of bounds play
  • Baseline fadeaway from 10-feet to give 62-49
  • Now 0-2 leading break (turnover in the paint). Mental note: Refrain from showcasing ball-handling skills for scouts in January
  • Hit jumping one-handed 8-footer off the glass from right elbow and took charge on the following play
  • Blocked shot leads to Jackson fast break and assist to Peoples

Ben Hansbrough

  • Drilled first 3 (from Jackson) moving left to right to take 5-3 lead

  • General Observation: A bit soft defensively, which means he'll have to develop into a weak side presence to earn real time.
  • Decent defense (still a bit tentative though) to negate (pin) layup attempt to end half
  • 2nd Half:

  • Nothing in 2:36 stint of playing time
  • Ended the game with a steal and tomahawk slam with 3 seconds remaining
