Nichols Jumps On ND Offer

Tate Nichols from Ryle High School (Union, Ky.) drove to South Bend on Friday to see what the Notre Dame program had to offer. As it turned out, Brian Kelly offered Nichols a scholarship and he accepted. Nichols is the second prospect Kelly has added to the Notre Dame's 2010 recruiting class since he was hired.

Tate Nichols (6-foot-7, 270-pounds) confirmed with IrishEyes via text message that he was offered a scholarship by Brian Kelly and that he accepted it. The text read, "ND offered and I accepted."

Nichols had previously been committed to Jim Harbaugh at Stanford. He is the third former Stanford commitment to flip to Notre Dame this year, joining wide receiver Tai-ler Jones and safety Chris Badger. Both Jones and Badger are already enrolled at Notre Dame.

Nichols is expected to play offensive tackle at Notre Dame. Top Stories
