James Talks About His ND Visit

Offensive lineman Matt James from St Xavier High School (Cincinnati, Ohio) is one of the most important recruits for Brian Kelly and his staff. Last weekend James was in South Bend for his official visit, and at some point on Wednesday he'll make his decision between the Irish and Ohio State.

Matt James had anticipated having his college decision done at this point, but things haven't worked out that way. Last weekend James was getting one last look at Notre Dame before he makes his decision.

"We got there on Friday," James said when asked about his official visit to Notre Dame. "We watched some film of the offense with coach Molnar and then I talked to coach Warinner after that. We checked into the hotel and went to eat in the press box, which was cool.

"On Saturday, we had the academic brunch. I met the athletic director and took a tour of the campus. We met with the coaches again and went over the offense a little bit more and talked about the strength and conditioning program."

James still had to meet with Brian Kelly before leaving campus, and he did that on Sunday.

"It went pretty well," Matt explained. "We talked about the academic success at Notre Dame. We talked about winning national championships was their goal, and that was what they're working on. We talked about football, the strength program… a bunch of stuff really."

"(The Notre Dame coaches) did a good job, they definitely did. I got to know the recruits and the players a little better. I definitely got a good feel for them and that's what I wanted to do."

Although James could take more time to make his decision, he'll pick either Notre Dame or Ohio State on signing day.

"I'm going to announce on Wednesday, I'm getting a little nervous, but I'll be fine," Matt said. "Both schools have tons of upside, but both have very different campuses, very different places."
