Cameron Roberson (6-foot-1, 220-pounds) Newbury Park High School, Calif.:
Brian Kelly's Comments: "Really impressed us. There was so much talk about another running back (Gio Bernard), but we had our sights set on Cameron Roberson. This is the guy that we felt, as a staff, that he fit precisely what we wanted to do within our offense. He hadn't gotten a lot of play, but if you asked me, which guy did we go out to California for… this is the guy that we wanted. We had three different coaches go out to California to make sure that we were going to keep Cameron Roberson. He's an outstanding player, an outstanding character kid, and he's one of those guys that you take a big sigh of relief that you got him…. And that's this young man.
"He can line up as an "I-back". He's explosive. He has second-level speed. He can take the toss-sweep, cut back, he has great vision. You can see that he's not a guy that's just going to lower his shoulder. He shows you the ability to make you miss, and accelerate at the second level. He shows you vision, he has the ability to cut back against the grain and find a way into the end zone. He usually goes in standing up by the way. He can pick up backers off the edge. He's a guy that can catch the ball on the perimeter. We're very excited to have him as part of our program."
