Bennett Racks Up Offers

Michael Bennett could play on either side of the ball at the next level, and he'll have plenty of options when it comes to selecting his college. The junior from Centerville High School (Ohio) has already accumulated 21 scholarship offers and Notre Dame is one of them.

Michael Bennett (6-foot-3, 270-pounds) doesn't know a lot about Notre Dame, but he is familiar with the new Irish coaching staff from their days at Cincinnati.

"I've been talking to coach Hinton for about a month and they offered me a couple weeks ago," Bennett said. "I'm excited about being offered by Notre Dame and I'm definitely interested in them. I just spoke with coach Kelly (Wednesday). He said that he's seen a lot of guys and that he thinks that I'm a Notre Dame guy. He said that I'm well-rounded, I play aggressively, and that I don't slack off in school.

"I don't know much about Notre Dame other than it's a nationally known school and the connections you have after you graduate from school. I knew about the coaching staff when they were at Cincinnati, because coach Kelly was recruiting me when he was there, or at least his staff was."

Almost all the schools are recruiting Bennett as a player that could play on the offensive line or the defensive line. He has 21 scholarship offers, but he hasn't begun to organize a list of his favorite schools.

"I'm just trying to make sure I look at all the schools with a level head and make sure I give them all the same consideration," Bennett explained. "I want to make sure that I'm not leaving anything out and that I'm not hasty with my decision.

""I'm not trying to drag it out, but I'm not trying to rush my decision either. I'm going to get out and visit some schools to make sure that I'm making the right decision. I don't have a timeframe for announcing.

"I've only been to see Ohio State, Cincinnati and Ball State," he said. "I'm not sure exactly which schools I plan to go see in the spring, but I'd like to see a lot of them." Top Stories
