Hanratty Will Take Unofficial Visits in April

Conor Hanratty is very familiar with Notre Dame, but he's just getting to know the new Notre Dame coaching staff. The offensive lineman from New Canaan High School (Conn.) has plans to visit several schools in April and Notre Dame is one of them.

Conor Hanratty (6-foot-4, 290-pounds) had an offer from Charlie Weis and his staff, but until recently he wasn't sure how serious the new Notre Dame was about recruiting him.

"The new staff officially offered me a week or two ago," Hanratty said. "It took a little while for them to get back with me and communicate with me, but I can understand that with them needing to solidify the 2010 class. I was waiting for the offer, and patience was a huge part of it.

"I got an opportunity to talk to coach Kelly and coach Warinner. I was very impressed with them. They seemed like good coaches. I've spoken to a lot of coaches over the past year, and they really stand out. I think they have a lot of potential at Notre Dame and I think I'd have a lot of potential being coached by them. When I go up there for the spring game, I'll be able to get a better feel for the staff."

Although Hanratty is happy to have the Notre Dame scholarship offer in hand, he isn't ready to name any favorites. In addition to taking a visit to Notre Dame, he's planning on taking unofficial visit to both Stanford and Cal.

"Right now I have 12 offers and the closest I am to naming a top school is a top-12," Hanratty explained. I'm keeping things open right now. I'm planning on taking some official visits and some unofficial visits and get out and look at some schools so that I can narrow things down."
