Cedric Reed (6-foot-5, 235-pounds) was on Notre Dame's radar back in the fall, but now that Brian Kelly has settled in as the Notre Dame football coach, Reed has become a recruiting priority.
"Notre Dame was recruiting me when coach Weis was there, so they've been recruiting me for awhile," Reed recalled. "I think the new staff got in touch with back in February and they sent me an offer. They still send me mail here and there, but I don't get to talk to them too much.
Coach Cooks is my recruiting coach and he seems like a good coach. He's a good guy, I liked him. He's a down to earth man. I think coach Cooks said that they were recruiting me to play outside backer."
With 16 scholarship offers the likes of Notre Dame, Nebraska, LSU, Arkansas, Texas, Texas Tech, Texas A&M, Stanford, North Carolina, Rice, Baylor, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, and Houston, Reed has a lot of homework to do.
"I haven't done all my research, so I'm still really looking around," he said. "I'm interested in everybody right now. I don't have any favorites, but I'm interested in Notre Dame.
"I went to some junior days already, but I don't have any plans to visit anyone this spring and summer. I do think I'll take a couple official visits though."
