A Matter of Timing

Jeff Driskel hasn't heard as much from Notre Dame as he would like, but he isn't lacking for college options at this time. The quarterback from Hagerty High School (Oviedo, Fla.) has 13 scholarship offers and a plan to find the school that will make him successful at the next level.

Notre Dame hasn't reached out to Jeff Driskel (6-foot-4, 225-pounds) as of yet, but he isn't holding that against them. Driskel likes what the Notre Dame program can offer, but at some point he'll have to move on.

"They're not pursuing me that hard actually," Driskel responded when asked about his contact with Notre Dame. "I haven't talked to anyone. They started to send me stuff in the mail about three weeks ago, or a month ago, but they haven't contacted me in any way.

"Obviously they can produce quarterbacks that the can make it to the league, which is a big thing for me. That's the obviously the ultimate goal, to make it to the NFL someday. I like the tradition they have there. It probably has the most tradition of any school in all of college football. It's pretty cool there."

If the Irish don't come calling soon, Driskel has options, and he'll likely narrow those down fairly soon.

"I'm probably not going to make my decision until I go to a couple camps this summer," Jeff explained. "I have 13 offers right now. I'll pick five camps to go to and then make my decision after the camps. I‘m starting to talk about that with my parents, and trying to get everything to fit into my schedule. I'm going to some spring practice and stuff like that.

"Wherever I feel that I have the best fit for me and the best relationship with the coaches. I want to be sure I pick the right place. I don't want to go in cold and without having a clue about things. I want to see how they're going to coach, not just how they're going to talk to me as a recruit. I want to see how they are in a practice style environment."

"Coaches like my size," he said. "They like how I can make plays on the run or in the pocket with my arm. They also like if they play breaks down that I can make a play with my legs as well. They like my size, my arm strength. "

Driskel threw for 1,427 yards and 11 touchdowns during his junior season.
