Zettel Plans To Return To ND

Lineman Anthony Zettel from Ogemaw Heights High School (Mich.) made his first visit to Notre Dame this weekend for the Irish junior day. Although he didn't leave campus with a scholarship offer Zettel intends to return to Notre Dame to see if he can change that.

Anthony Zettel (6-foot-4, 264-pounds) enjoyed his first experience at Notre Dame, but he was hoping that he attendance at the Irish junior day would net him an Irish scholarship offer.

"Pretty good, I had fun," Zettel said about the Notre Dame junior day. "The facilities are top of the line. I liked the campus, it was beautiful. I liked the coaches, but I really didn't get to talk to them much. There were a lot of recruits there so they were pretty busy.

"They ran the junior day well. I got everything answered that I needed to have answered about the school. They have top-notch academics. We got to see the campus how nice it was, the football facilities, the strength and conditioning staff, so we covered a lot.

"I thought I was going to get an offer, but I didn't it isn't that big of a deal," he said. "We really didn't have a conversation about it, but I'm not in a really big hurry."

Although Zettel was hoping that he would have an Irish offer after this visit, it isn't the end of the line for Zettel and the Irish.

"We're going to go down there for a team camp," Zettel explained. "Our whole football team is going down there, so they'll get a chance to see me then.

"I've called and talked to coach Martin a couple times, so I'll just go down there and do good. There's not a really big rush, because I don't think I'm going to commit anytime soon. "
