Lyons Has a Busy Spring

Wayne Lyons is one of the top safety prospects in the country and he's also one of Notre Dame's top recruiting targets. The standout athlete from Dillard High School (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.) hasn't set a date to visit Notre Dame, but he has an idea of when it will happen.

Wayne Lyons (6-foot-1, 190-pounds) nearly 40 scholarship offers from across the country, which means he has a lot of people that want to talk to him.

"I really haven't been talking to a lot of coaches, because I've been busy," Lyons said. "I've been going to track practice and working out for spring practice, so by the time I get home I've been kind of tired, so I don't even pick up the phone to call a lot of people.

"I talk to Notre Dame about once every couple weeks, mainly because of my schedule. They're really interested in me and I'm interested in them also. There's a real good connection there. I'll probably come up this summer."

With his schedule, Lyons hasn't taken many unofficial visits, but he does plan to make a trip north to check out one of the top programs in the Big 10.

"I'm going to the Ohio State spring game," Lyons said. "I'm going up with some guys from my 7-on-7 team. I want to get out and see a couple schools.

"After that, I'll probably try to narrow my list down after spring football."
