Irish Check In On Adams

The Notre Dame coaches are out on the road as the May recruiting period is in full swing. There are several prospects the Irish staff want to get a closer look at and one of them is athlete Jerrell Adams from Scotts Branch High School (Summerton, S.C.)

Jerrell Adams (6-foot-5, 220-pounds) hadn't heard much from the Notre Dame coaching staff prior to this week, but that may change as Notre Dame paid his high school a visit this week.

"Notre Dame came by the school (Monday)," Adams said. "They couldn't really say anything, because they couldn't talk to me, so we just introduced ourselves. It was one of their assistant coaches and he talked to my coach. Illinois, Appalachian State also came by and talked to my coach.

"Notre Dame hasn't offered me yet, but I guess they heard about me and saw my highlight tape and thought that I was a good player and thought they could use me. I think my coach sent my tape to them."

Although the Irish haven't offered Adams yet, he does fit the profile the Notre Dame staff is looking for on the defensive side of the ball.

"I'm interested in Notre Dame," he said. "I've never been there and I don't really know much about the school. I just know about the football team and that they're on TV all the time."

"I think they're looking at me for outside linebacker. I've played some linebacker, so I think that I'd be pretty good at it. Most schools are recruiting me as a tight end and as an athlete. I see myself as an athlete and think I can play wherever they put me."

Adams has scholarship offers from South Carolina, Maryland, Arkansas, Illinois, Clemson, North Carolina State. In addition to Notre Dame, Jerrell is also receiving heavy interest from North Carolina, LSU, and Florida.
