Floyd, Rudolph Named Lindy's All-America

Notre Dame the only school designated with multiple offensive All-Americans in the magazine's pre-season voting.

Last season, Michael Floyd was inexplicably left off the 37-player pre-season Biletnikoff Watch List.

Such oversight won't be an issue when the 2010 list is revealed in August, as Floyd should be afforded pre-season status on nearly every All-America team and list of college football's best entering the fall.

Tuesday, both Floyd and classmate Kyle Rudolph were named as 2010 preseason first-team All-Americans by Lindy's. Floyd and Rudolph are the only teammates selected to the annual's first-team offense. The Irish tied Georgia, Nebraska, UCLA, and early October opponent Pittsburgh (RB Dion Lewis and DE Greg Romeus) as the only colleges with two pre-season selections.

Floyd leads all active FBS players in receiving yards per game (84.1), collecting 16 touchdowns in his 92 career receptions totaling 1,514 yards. Floyd has started 17 consecutive games in which he has appeared for the Irish after serving in a reserve role in his first collegiate game vs. San Diego State (a contest in which his first career reception resulted in a 22-yard touchdown grab).

The 6'3" junior has missed all or part of 9 games over the last two seasons due to knee and collarbone injuries.

As a sophomore in 2009, Rudolph was the only underclassman named as a semifinalist for the John Mackey Award, presented annually to college football's top tight end. According to Notre Dame sports information, of the eight Mackey Award semifinalists from last year, only Rudolph returns to compete in 2010.

Rudolph has corralled 62 receptions for 704 yards and five TDs in his 23 games in an Irish uniform. Rudolph missed all or part of four games last season due to a shoulder injury. The Irish finished 0-4 in those contests.
