It isn't easy finding tall defensive backs that can play cornerback, but Alex Dixon from Countryside High School (Clearwater, Fla.) certainly looks the part. Dixon has 13 scholarship offers and he's looking for more.

Notre Dame has been showing interest in Alex Dixon (6-foot-1, 180-pounds) over the past several months and if the Irish decide to extend him an offer Dixon would be interested.

"I've been receiving a lot of mail from them," Dixon said. "I've been talking to coach Alford a little bit. I was supposed to call him this week, but I haven't called him yet. Coach Alford told me to focus on the classroom and I'd have a scholarship.

"I watched their games growing up and I've watched Rudy a lot. I know the movie was about Notre Dame, so I know Notre Dame from that and from watching their games.

"Their program is well known," he said. "They have great alumni and they have great academics. They recruit the best, so I liked Notre Dame… it's a good school.

Dixon holds scholarship offers from Florida State, Florida, South Florida, Florida International, North Carolina, Kentucky, West Virginia, Nebraska, Rutgers, Iowa State, Tennessee, Wake Forest, Clemson, and Colorado.

"I'm just open right now, so I'm just going to wait to narrow the schools," Dixon explained. "I'm going to wait until this summer to take some visits. Right now, I'm still looking at visits. I know one school that I'm going to visit is North Carolina. I'm not sure when, but that's a school that I plan on getting to.

"I've stayed in touch with North Carolina and Kentucky and I have a pretty good relationship with coach (Steve) Addazio at Florida, coach (Rick) Smith from USF and their quarterbacks coach (Peter Vaas)."
