Second Atkinson Grabs Irish Offer

Josh Atkinson isn't the only prospect at Granada High School (Livermore, Calif.) to hold a scholarship offer from Notre Dame. The Irish have offered another athlete from his class, one that bears a striking resemblance to Josh, on and off the field.

Josh Atkinson (6-foot-0, 180-pounds) and his identical twin brother George have both secured scholarship offers from Notre Dame. George landed his a couple months backs, while Josh recently added Notre Dame to an offer sheet that includes; Arizona, Arizona State, Oregon, Oregon State, San Jose State, Utah, Washington and Washington State.

"Notre Dame offered me," Josh responded when asked about his contact with the fighting Irish coaching staff. "I'm pretty interested in the program. The defensive back coach has been recruiting me, coach Martin. He's a good guy. My dad really likes him. He seems like a good person and I like that he likes corners that can press, because that's my specialty. I like to play press coverage."

Like George, Josh has interest in Notre Dame and he would like to get a chance to take a closer look at the campus sometime this summer.

"I've never been too far out of California," Josh explained. "The only places that I've been are Oregon and Nevada. I'm definitely willing to go anywhere at this point. I'd like to check out the different states and stuff. I'm definitely willing to get out of California though.

"I don't really have any favorites. I'm open to any school, pretty much, as long as it's a good school and it fits how I play. I want to go to a school that I can make a big impact early on and where I can be the best player that I can be.

Although Atkinson doesn't have any favorites at this time, he did a favorite school growing up and he's hoping they extend him an offer fairly soon.

"USC is recruiting me pretty hard, so I think that they're going to offer me pretty soon'" he said. "They want to see me in person, so I think I'm going to go to the school this summer for their ‘Rising Stars Camps' so that they can evaluate me.

"I haven't gone up to campus or anything, but I've always been a USC fan. Growing up I watched them play. It would be a big impact offer for me, but I'd still being willing to go out of state." Top Stories
