Tuitt Officially Certain

Stephon Tuitt from Monroe High School (Monroe, Ga.) has taken a number of unofficial visits and he's considering taking several more now that his summer basketball camp is nearly complete.

Rumors have been circulating about a pending commitment by Stephon Tuitt (6-foot-5, 252-pounds), but according to Tuitt, he doesn't plan on making a decision until after he takes his official visits.

"I heard that rumor too," Tuitt replied when asked about a potential decision. "I'm not planning on committing to any school anytime soon. I'm going to wait to narrow down my schools and take my official visits before I make my decision."

For the past couple weeks Tuitt has been involved in a summer basketball camp, so he really hasn't had time to focus on his recruitment.

"We've had about 14 or 15 games so far," he explained. "We play different schools and compete against other people. I've been so busy with basketball that I really haven't had time to talk on the phone, because I've been tired when I get home.

"Basketball has kind of helped everything calm down a little bit and let me get away from recruiting for just a little bit and let me focus on something else. I think this is our last week, so I'll have to go right back at the recruiting stuff again."

Stephon begins football practice on August 1, so he will attempt to squeeze in a few unofficial visits.

"I'm going to see if I can make it down to a couple schools that I like," he said. "I'm going to try to get down to Tennessee, Miami, and then I'm going to try to make it up to Notre Dame. I'm not sure how I'm going to make it up there yet, because that will be hard, but I'm going to try to make it up there too."

Tuitt is also working on getting his official visits in order. As of now he has three schools tabbed for trips this fall.

"Notre Dame will get one of my official visits, and Georgia Tech and Miami," Stephon said. "Those are three guaranteed officials for me right now.

"Georgia tech is building up a program and they're getting a lot of good recruits to come in. They have a balanced team and I hope they can repeat what they did last year and go about that.

"All my family lives in Miami," he said. "And Notre Dame is a historic program and Notre Dame is one of the top schools that I really like. I just get the feeling that I really like the school a lot. My visit up there might determine everything. It depends on what it looks like and how I feel up there."
