Anthony Stanko Talks About ND Camp

Anthony Stanko made the trip to South Bend looking to open the eyes of Notre Dame coaches, how did he do? Irish Eyes spoke with the Ohio 2012 offensive lineman to get the latest.

Anthony Stanko has great physical size for most offensive lines. At Notre Dame and under Brian Kelly, Stanko knows he'll need to be in great shape and show he's capable of getting the job done if he's going to have a chance to earn an Irish offer.

After leaving Notre Dame, Stanko spoke with Irish Eyes to give the latest on his trip.

"I thought I had a great day at Notre Dame. I worked hard and gave 100% and felt people were impressed with my performance."

While Stanko was only attending on Tuesday, he did get a chance to show his skills.

"Today was more of a combine as we did 3-cone, 40 and vertical. I got a 26 on my vertical jump. We then went out on the practice field and did some position work with bags and cones and then some one-on-one pass rush drills."

How did the Warren (Ohio) Howland product do?

"I know I went up against some of the better guys that were there. I took reps at right tackle and both guard positions. We only had about 8 offensive linemen in the group so Coach (Ed) Warinner got a chance to see a lot of us."

Stanko measured in at 6-foot-4.5, 310-pounds at camp and passed the looks test. Now he'll have to see if the Irish have enough interest in building a relationship and start the recruiting process with him. Having visited for the Navy game last season, Stanko is excited about the future of Notre Dame Football.

"This was my second time on campus and I love it. I think the campus is beautiful and I know the football program is going to be successful under Coach Kelly. He's won everywhere he's been and will turn things around in a short time at Notre Dame."
