Dunn Excited About Irish

Ohio running back Brionte Dunn talks about his new offer from Notre Dame with Irish Eyes.

One of the top names in Ohio for the Class of 2012 will be Brionte Dunn of Canton (Ohio) GlenOak High School. The 6-foot-1, 215-pound running back has picked up early offers from Pittsburgh, Cincinnati and Notre Dame, but it's early and Dunn is not looking to jump on anyone's ship just yet. How surprised was Dunn by the Irish offer?

"I'm very surprised by the Notre Dame offer. I've never visited or anything, but I'm very happy about the offer."

Dunn learned about his Irish offer from his high school coach and has yet to make contact with the Irish.

"I've not talked with any Notre Dame coaches yet, I'm planning on doing that soon. I learned about my offer from my coach. I know Notre Dame is a very good school and offers a first class education. I've got a 3.0 GPA and know education is very important."

While Dunn is surprised by the interest so early, he knows he's still a work in progress.

"I'm a power runner with good speed (4.5 – 40) and vision on the field. I've got to work on my ball security but I'm taking care of that by getting stronger in the weight room this summer."

Over the past few years GlenOak has seen several players in both basketball and football take their skills to another level. Has he learned anything from those before him?

"I just transferred to GlenOak a year ago. But I've heard all about some of the more famous alums from here and hope to reach some of the levels they've reached."

With his offers already growing you'd think Dunn spent some of his summer hitting the camp scene. The fact is he only attended on camp.

"I went to the Ohio State Camp in late June and had a lot of fun. I got to meet the Ohio State coaches and meet a lot of good players at the camp."

While Dunn admits he grew up a fan of Ohio State, he also knows his future college choice will set the path for the rest of his life.

"I've very open to any program that has interest in me. I grew up watching Ohio State but have learned that there are many other great programs out there as well."

Irish Eyes will continue to check back with Brionte Dunn as the recruiting process continues.
