Irish Give Williams Something to Think About

Kasen Williams is the No.1 rated wide receiver in the country by and he recently made an unofficial visit to Notre Dame. The product from Skyline High School (Issaquah, Wash.) had narrowed his list of schools to ten, and will soon name his top-five.

Kasen Williams (6-foot-2, 195-pounds) had made a number of unofficial visits earlier in the spring, but he still wanted to get out and take a look at a couple more campuses before he cut his list of schools to five.

"I told my mom that I wanted to go to a few schools and she picked Notre Dame and LSU, and I was cool with that," Williams explained. "I've always had an interest in Notre Dame, because of their offense and how much they pass. I had them in my top-10 and it was one of the schools that I hadn't seen before. I was willing to go up there and take a trip. I was glad I did, because I have a lot more interest in them now.

"Everyone told me that they had a beautiful campus, so I was expecting it to be a real nice campus and it was. It was beautiful and I liked the campus a lot. I liked the facilities as well. I was impressed with a lot of the things that they showed me."

Two aspects that Williams wanted to wanted the Notre Dame staff to touch on while he was on campus was how they planned on using Williams in their offense as well as the academics.

"I want to major in business and they have one of the best business schools in the nation. That was one of the things that I was impressed with," Williams explained. "In terms of their offense, I met with coach Molnar first and he told me that they'd be moving me around in the offense, so it would be hard for people to cover me in a game.

"Coach Alford was basically with me the entire time and he gave me a tour of the campus. I liked coach Alford a lot. I'd say that he's one of my favorites on the coaching staff, which is a good thing, because he'd be the one that I'd be around most. It's a good thing to have that kind of relationship with the receivers coach.

"I met with coach Kelly," he said. "He was telling me that he took Cincinnati to winning seasons. He was saying that they know how to throw the ball and how he's coached receivers that have gone into the NFL. He knows how to develop receivers. He knows how to build their game and get them ready for the next level."

Notre Dame, LSU, Washington, Washington State, Florida, Cal, Alabama, Oklahoma, Georgia Tech, and Arkansas are the schools still under consideration, but Williams will likely pare that list to five soon. Although Williams had a very good visit to Notre Dame he wasn't ready to put the Irish in his final five.

"I plan on coming out with my top-five next week," Williams said. "I'm thinking about putting Notre Dame in there. I think it's something that I need to sleep on and something that I need to take my time and think about. I think I have all my questions answered about Notre Dame. It's just something that I have to sleep on and think about." Top Stories
